BIO AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Cleopatra Kum is a nurse entrepreneur, PhD graduate, and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Future of Nursing Scholar. She has a passion for people, teaching, the nursing profession, and our healthcare system as a whole. She is an experienced cardiac nurse, orthopedic nurse, home healthcare nurse, and small business owner. She is also a certified American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric CPR, First Aid and AED instructor. She loves working with patients and their caregivers, to improve health outcomes by providing comprehensive and relevant health education. She is particularly interested in older adults and their caregivers, especially those with cardiovascular diseases and stroke. She has had the opportunity to present her work at conferences at regional, national, and international levels, and she is currently disseminating her work through peer reviewed publications. At the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing, she served as a teaching assistant and a graduate assistant conducting research with nurse scientists. She served as a nurse intervener on an NIH-funded project with her primary mentor, seeking to improve health and well-being in family caregivers of stroke survivors. She dreams of a world where patients, caregivers and their communities are encouraged to find their voice and take charge of their own health.
